In April of 2010 our precious daughter was diagnosed with anencephaly at a routine ultrasound. I felt lost and wanted answers to basic questions and fears but searching around online seemed to scare me even more because I kept finding medical descriptions and medical pictures. What I wanted was answers from someone who had been thru this themselves, not just someone who knew the textbook answers.
I was blessed in that I know a lady who's friend had recently been thru the same thing and she put us in contact with each other. Even though our only contact was thru email it was what I needed, the voice of someone who had lived thru this answering my questions and reassuring me.
This is what I hope this book will provide for you. Simply a bit of help and a bit of encouragement from someone who has been there.

My baby girl also has Anenchephaly. My fiance and I didn't know until 2 weeks before I gave birth to her. It was the scariest thing I have ever gone through. We didn't know what to do, who to turn to. She was born on October 2nd 2013 and I am happy to say that she is still here with us today. For any mother going through this in their lives, never second guess your baby. Our daughter is a beautiful little girl named Zamie and she i an angel. Just remember God only chose you because he wanted you to hold an angel, that's what gets me through. Even having her, the feelings and emotions are still difficult to live with. Seeing my 3 year old laying in bed not talking, walking, or playing. It's hard, but like Nicole said every moment is even more precious than you could imagine. My fiance and I know that Zamie will not live forever and we have done our best to come to terms with that, so we live everyday like it was her last. She does everything and anything we think might be fun for her. She got a special bike for her birthday that reclines, because she doesn't sit up. We make everyday special for her and for us. I also agree that pictures are super important, when Zamie was first born my fiance and I were both so angry that our family requested a photographer came in to take pictures, but now I have a polaroid camera dedicated to taking instant pictures of our little girl. So we will always have her. Nicole thank you so much for telling the world your story. I wish I would have seen it when I was pregnant, it probably would've helped me through a lot of my emotional grieving. I pray for you and your whole family, you are amazing people with an amazing story!!!
